Leadership Training

Chosen by nomination, one older boy from each cottage serves on the Goodland Campus Advisory Counsel and in the Mentoring Student Program.  Working with the President and Vice President of the Academy, these boys collaborate with the rest of the Campus Advisory Counsel to discuss current programs and to make group decisions that will affect the lives of all the boys at Goodland.

The students on the Advisory Counsel are also in charge of the Mentoring Student Program, which helps new residents successfully transition to living at Goodland.  These mentors essentially act as big brothers for the new boys: teaching them how to do their chores, dress properly, and generally fit in to the Goodland life style.  While in these mentoring positions, the older boys also benefit by learning about important life skills, like maturity, responsibility and leadership.
